Friends’ V/Blogs

I know these folks and they all have a different perspective on activating parks. They are folks with whom I interact the most.

They have different views on how to showcase their activations. Some are highly edited and others not so much. In all cases showing Morse Code in the field is a way to acclimate newer operators to the sounds of a field operations. Some take more of a trainer role, while others let you see everything, errors and all.

KQ3Q – Lidi, an LICW member, has been a Morse Code operator for just a little over a year, as of this writing. She is an instructor and teaches beginner classes in both Spanish and English.

W4EMB – Ed Bennet is an instructor at LICW. Along with teaching beginners, he also checks out instructors on the technical aspects of using Zoom as an instructor. He is also an unabashed Army Infantry retiree. Thank you for what you did for all of us, Ed.

K2EJT – Evan is another instructor at LICW. His classes are awesome and challenging. He does POTA and SOTA and we often get to see beautiful scenery as he hikes up hills and mountains.

WB0RLJ – Almost everyone I know in the CW world knows about Jim. He is the most prodigious activator I know. He makes it a point to activate at least one park everyday. I’ve had over 100 contacts with Jim, most of them from US-4011, Chalco Hills State Recreation Area, about two miles from his house. He’s like the neighbor in Home Improvement, you never see his face.

KE6SRN ES KE6SRO – Carol (SRN) and Tom (SRO), members of SPARC, are a retired couple living it up doing POTA and SOTA throughout the country. Their write ups rival that of vacation planning gurus, giving us titillating views in words and views of the parks, historic sites, and just plain beautiful places they visit.
